At the 2025 Italian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen seizes his third win of the season, marking his third victory at the Italian Grand Prix. Just a day prior to his win, Verstappen recorded the fastest lap in F1 history during qualifying, becoming the first polesitter to win the race at Monza since 2019. Second place was taken by Lando Norris, with his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri securing third place.

In addition to bagging this season’s third victory, this was Verstappen’s third time crossing the finish line in Monza during his F1 career. Post-race, Verstappen shared his exhilaration, mentioning that despite the unlucky start at Lap 1, the team came back strong making for an unforgettable race weekend.

Notwithstanding his third place finish, Oscar Piastri continues to lead the championship. Reflecting on the race, Piastri expressed satisfaction in his performance, acknowledging room for improvement and eagerness for coming races.

Despite high expectations, the Ferrari duo Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton couldn’t replicate their remarkable performance from Monza’s Friday practice sessions, wrapping the race at fourth and sixth place. They were outrun by George Russell, who finished fifth. The top ten was rounded off by Alexander Albon, Gabriel Bortoleto, Kimi Antonelli, and Isack Hadjar respectively.

Technical issues hampered some racers, including Nico Hulkenberg who retired soon after the formation lap due to a technical glitch in his Kick Sauber car. Fernando Alonso’s Aston Martin suffered a suspension failure, resulting in an early exit.

The race also met with some controversy as Haas, represented by Esteban Ocon and Oliver Bearman, faced some challenges. Esteban Ocon was handed a five-second penalty for forcing Aston Martin driver Lance Stroll off track. Oliver Bearman collided with Williams driver Carlos Sainz, resulting in a spin for both drivers. For this incident, Bearman was penalized with a ten-second time penalty.
