Vikings Trade Harrison Phillips to Jets for $3.7 Million | NFL News Times of India”
In March 2022, defensive tackle Harrison Phillips signed a three-year $19.5 million contract with the Minnesota Vikings. Two years later, the Vikings extended his contract by two years, offering him another $15 million. The expanded deal included a signing bonus of $5.02 million, with $13.09 million guaranteed.
However, before Phillips could start his year with the Vikings, he was traded to the New York Jets on August 20, along with a 2027 seventh-round pick, in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round draft pick and a 2027 sixth-round draft pick. As part of the trade agreement, Minnesota agreed to pay $3.7 million of Phillips’ $7.4 million salaries for the 2025 season.
With the Jets, Phillips is speculated to receive a base salary of $3.3 million, a bonus of $400,000, and $500,000 in incentives for the 2025 season. In the following season, he is expected to earn a base salary of $6.8 million and a bonus of $510,000. The cap hit for these two years may be $4.2 million and $7.5 million, respectively.
Phillips has previously played for the Buffalo Bills and Minnesota Vikings. The 2025 season with the Jets would mark his eighth season in the NFL and the third team with which he has played. Throughout his career, Phillips has achieved significant statistics, including 314 combined tackles, 104 solo tackles, and eight sacks.
The trade to the Jets has stirred reactions among fans, with some expressing apprehension over the value of the deal and others expressing optimism about Phillips’ future with the Jets.
