WNBA Star Breanna Stewart Targets Late August Return, Feels Great
Breanna Stewart, star of the New York Liberty, might return soon to the WNBA after a knee injury. She completed an individual workout on the Liberty’s practice court and stated that she felt “great.” Having suffered a bone injury in her right knee last month, her condition has improved significantly, and she aims to return by the end of August.
Stewart had reported feeling something off in her knee on July 26 while playing against the Los Angeles Sparks, which exacerbated her injury. However, she has high hopes of rejoining her team, the New York Liberty, on August 27 as she continues her knee injury recovery.
Sandy Brondello, coach of the New York Liberty, also believes that her star forward could return by the end of August. She mentioned that the two-time WNBA MVP is currently healing from her injury. Stewart discussed her injury sustained during the team’s loss to the Los Angeles Sparks on July 26th. Despite her optimism, the team’s training staff has not set a target return date. The basketball star, eager as she is to return, is celebrating her 31st birthday on August 27 and has vocalized her intention to be back before then.
Stewart, a seven-time All-Star, averages 18.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per contest. Nevertheless, she will likely miss the next three games over the next two weeks, beginning with Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Lynx. Despite this setback, she is focusing on her personal recovery journey and anticipating her return to the court.
